FAQ's

What is VASERLipo?
VASERLipo is a minimally invasive liposuction procedure which helps to reduce fat and improves your body shape.  It can be performed on various parts of your body including neck, abdomen, arms, knees, thighs and back.

What is VASER assisted fat grafting?
This procedure involves use of lower energy VASER probe to loosen excess fat on one part of the body and transfer it to another more desirable part of the body. This procedure can be performed on breasts, hand wrinkles, buttocks and thighs.

What are the advantages of these VASER procedures?
VASER procedures are safe and can be performed under local anesthesia. Fat to be removed can be precisely targeted, so that the other important tissues are not damaged. The removed fat tissue can be re-grafted to other areas since a high percentage of the cells are viable. This procedure also has a very short recovery period and hence helps you to resume normal activities sooner.

How Does VASERLipo vary from normal liposuction treatment?
VASERLipo selectively targets only the fat tissues and does not cause any damage to the surrounding tissues which helps in quicker healing of the body with faster recovery. It is also more effective in removing fat thoroughly from any area. It works even in delicate areas.

Are there chances of gaining weight in the future?
Once the excess fat is completely removed it should not return to that area if you maintain a healthy diet with proper exercise. The human body requires some amount of fat so an essential layer of fat is left under the skin and remains untreated. All the treated fat cells are however permanently removed.

But Vaser or any liposuction is not however a weight loss tool! It is possible to gain weight and fat in other parts of the body if one adopts unhealthy lifestyle. The thin layer of remaining fat in the treated area can also become thicker if one gains a lot of weight.

What is the cost of the treatment?
As these treatments are customized to your needs the exact cost will need to be discussed with your doctor. The cost of the treatment would vary based on the total body area covered and the anticipated volume of fat to be removed or expected time taken to accomplish the goals.

Is Vaser lipo done in a single session or multiple?
Vaser lipo for any given area is usually a one-time treatment. All the excess fat in the given target area is removed in one go.

How many areas of the body can be treated in one session?
We do not recommend treating too many areas at one time. One should generally not exceed 40% of the body area in one surgery. Two areas can be treated together easily ; sometimes a third smaller area as well.

How much fat can be removed in one session?
We generally do not remove more than 5% of the body weight in fat volume. For example in a 80Kg person, we may safely remove 4 liters of fat in one session. We try to completely treat one or two areas. Other areas may be treated after a gap of 3-4 weeks safely.

What preparations are needed before Vaser?
Once it is determined that Vaser is appropriate to treat the problem area, the patient is checked for presence of other medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cardio respiratory conditions etc which must be controlled. The patient should not take aspirin or other blood thinners for a week [essential medications should only be stopped in consultation with the original prescribing physician] and avoid alcohol for 3 days prior to surgery. It is preferable to quit smoking for 2-3 weeks before as it interfere with healing. Some essential blood tests will be also be done before the surgery.

How long does it take to recover after Vaser?
Normally one can experience oozing of lightly blood stained fluid from the puncture sites for the first 24-48 hours; much of this is the wetting solution originally introduced by the surgeon before Vaser. Pain is easily controlled by oral medications. One should be able to handle light office work after 5-7 days especially if working hours can be reduced. Some may experience fatigue and reduced work ability for 2 weeks, so it is unwise to keep heavy demanding engagements for this period.
